Dinner Tuesday For Schmachtenbergers
Couple Observe Golden Wedding In Mrs. oeller's Home.
Mrs. Gladys A. Moeller, 538 Bradley court, is entertaining fourteen at dinner Tuesday noon honoring her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Otto Schmachtenberger. 334 West Main Street, who are celebrating their golden wedding anniversary.
The couple was married at Marshall, Ill., November 26, 1879, the Rev. Mr. McCann performing the ceremony. Mrs. Schmachtenberger, before her marriage was Alice Beauchamp of Martinsville. They came to Decatur in 1889 and have lived here most of the years since that time, Mr. Schmachtenberger being connected for many years with the Chicago and Alton Railroad. He was also temporarily located at Roodhouse.
The couple has four children, all but one of whom, Floyd Schmachtenberger of New Orleans will be in Decatur for the anniversary dinner.
The others are Mrs. Gertrude Shelton of Decatur, Mrs. Mabel Cross of Kansas City, and Mrs. Gladys A. Moeller of Decatur. There are also four grandchildren, Floyd Henry Schumann and Jane Moeller of Decatur, Wallace Cross Jr. of Kansas City and Margaret Schmachtenberger of New Orleans.
Mr. Schmachtenberger's sisters are also here for the occasion. These are Mrs. Lote Gray and Miss Eva Schmachtenberger of Marshall, who have been visiting in Decatur for the last two weeks, and Mrs. Margaret Washburn of Greenville, Ill.
